If you have booked a portrait shoot, here is some advice..

 WHAT TO WEAR

Here are some guidelines for you, but if you have any questions, please get in touch. If you’re stuck for ideas take a look at the portfolio pages or check Pinterest for inspiration. You’re welcome to bring a few changes of clothes to achieve different looks. Something glamorous and something casual, something dark and light will have most bases covered.

CHOOSE FLATTERING CLOTHES

Firstly it’s important that you feel comfortable and your clothes fit, it might seem obvious but if you're uncomfortable you won’t feel relaxed. If you have familiar clothes that show off your best bits or hide parts you’d rather keep under wraps choose these rather than splashing out on a new outfit. Ask friends and family for an honest opinion and make sure you can bend and sit comfortably.

AVOID BOLD PATTERNS

I usually suggest avoiding branding or logos, these can date your look very quickly, and bold patterns can be very distracting too. Keep it simple, one or two colours together work best, but this is your shoot so you can decide. You are welcome to send photographs of your outfits to me if you’re in any way unsure, I’m happy to advise on styling and colour.

CHOOSING COLOURS

Choose colours that complement your skin tone and work well together. Have you thought about your home decor, if you’re thinking of framing and hanging the pictures at home will the photographs complement your interior design? The studio has several different colour backdrops, and knowing what you will be wearing helps me to decide which backdrops to use.

ACCESSORIES

Jewellery, scarves or a hat can add real personality and flair to a shoot. Make sure there is a little bit of something that defines you in the photographs.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

This can be a very important part of the shoot for everyone but particularly for women. Good hair and makeup can make all the difference and will help you look and feel amazing.

LASTLY

Make sure your clothes are clean and pressed, and bring your clothes to the studio on a hanger rather than folded in a bag, it takes longer to get creases out than it takes to put them in.
